Yalla Foundation is proud to connect kids across 25 different nations in 5 continents. We have over 200 students who are being actively tutored.
Yalla Foundation is a not-for-profit educational organization. My name is Amani and I founded Yalla Foundation. I am a high-school student who loves languages, culture, and connecting with new people across the globe; my passion stems from my family's military service. Our goal is to connect kids from military families who are stationed overseas with other military families who may not be in the same country. This connection allows military kids to share knowledge with one another and build a sense of community. In addition, connecting military kids with non-military kids worldwide can create a true global outreach with the shared goal of reducing disparity in education. Together, we can foster friendships, equitably deliver the power of education, and engage the next generation to solve issues that matter to all of us. There is an African proverb that says if you want to go fast, travel alone; but if you want to go far, travel together.
As the daughter of a U.S. military service member, I had the opportunity to travel extensively outside of the United States, which widened my perspective. Yalla Foundation began when I visited the Middle East and saw firsthand the disparities in basic education. A common phrase spoken was "Yalla," which means "Lets go!" Yalla Foundation became a call to action. Through social media I met others who are equally passionate about reducing educational disparity and a mission was born.
We believe every kid has something to teach and something to learn. The most effective learning occurs in a non-judgmental, stress-free environment. That is what Yalla Foundation provides.
